My work with the Ho‘ohana Community sites got the attention of one of the advisory board members on Joyful Jubilant Learning, Brad Shorr. He contacted me via Twitter about getting some work done on his site. I took a look at what he had and it reminded me of Barry Moltz’s previous theme: primary colors with rounded header elements and a simple site header.

After seeing the new JJL and hearing about its SEO advantages, we decided to go that route and work out an updated method of driving visitors to his 3 services. A short breakdown of the process rather than a full case study goes as follows:

  • a couple of consults and corresponding about theme options
  • building out a version of my vision for what Brad wanted in Thesis on a test installation
  • scrapping the whole design (my call/idea) to explore a new technique of modding Thesis
  • modifying the design after draft to meet his wishes and solve his concerns
  • migrating the theme to his existing site
